What do you want to do when you leave school?
This is a very difficult question to answer for many. For Phil Ashley, owner of Premier Group, he was very clear. Phil wanted to work with cars. He had a passion for cars and wanted his career to be in the automotive industry. The school advisors response, “could you set your sights a little higher?” Phil responded, ‘yes, I want to have the very best garage possible’.
Phil has built Premier Group from a small mechanical service; to now providing complete car care with dedicated workshops for mechanical repairs, MOT testing, body repairs and valeting & detailing.
The new Premier Group Apprenticeship has been created to facilitate dedicated young people with a passion for cars to also pursue a career in the automobile industry. Phil is a proud board member of The AutoRaise Charitable organisation. AutoRaise is a charitable organisation committed to reversing the skills shortage in the vehicle repair industry. They work together with Vehicle Repairers, training providers, schools and colleges to present the body repair industry to young people as a realistic alternative to other employment opportunities, further education or university.
Harry is the current apprentice at Premier Group. Harry spends time completing practical, real world training and receives mentoring at the Premier Group mechanical workshop. He also attends college for additional theory learning and assessments.
Premier Group support Harry however required and have invested in his development through providing a full set of tools in a Premier Group rolling chest. See Harry with his tools in the picture.
Harry said, “I am really enjoying this experience. I am learning loads off the different team members, far more than I ever did in just the classroom. I really enjoy being part of the Premier Group team and look forward to the challenges the garage repairs bring.”
